Bon Ton Roulette
Charles D Booty was born in 1928 in Flora, Louisiana. He has an incredible life story, was a fascinating, brilliant, and courageous man! Of course, leave it to Neil Raabe to have been familiar with him decades ago! For some great history on Booty, check out Ricky Nye's interview, part 2, towards the end of Mambo Sauce Episode 6! Charlie's smooth dexterity and old-school feel shine on "Maceo Stomp" and "K and M Stomp" and I so wish I could have met him and seen him in person. Charlie died in 2008, but he left behind brilliant recordings (including one with Carl Sonny Leyland), so many thanks to Ricky Nye and Carl Sonny Leyland for recording him for our benefit and the benefit of generations to come.
