Buddy (Kenneth) Scott was born in Goodman, Mississippi in 1935, moving with his family to Chicago in the 40’s. He learned to play guitar from his mother and from Reggie Boyd. Buddy, a blues guitarist and songwriter, had brothers vocalist Howard and guitarist Walter, who also played locally. Buddy formed the group “Scotty and the Rib Tips” and recorded several singles in the late in the 1960s. They played locally in Chicago blues establishments for over a generation. “Careless With Our Love” was on the Volume 4 “Living Chicago Blues” LP, released in 1980. The song was written by Don Davis and Frank Johnson, and performed originally by Johnnie Taylor in 1973. Buddy released the album Bad Avenue, featuring Chicago Blues in 1993. Buddy died of stomach cancer in 1994 not long after the album's release. Buddy’s son Kenneth “Hollywood” Scott is also a Chicago guitarist/ musician.
