Big Joe & The Dynaflows

Drummer, singer, and songwriter Big Joe was born in Washington DC in the mid-60s. He found his way to music both through the blues concerts in the city and through his father’s record collection at home. He learned to play drums as a teenager and quickly found his way to playing blues and jazz and touring in a backing band. His five-piece band, Big Joe & The Dynaflows, brought jump blues to the dance halls and through a variety of albums throughout the 90s and beyond. He’s worked with a variety of musicians, including in the role of musical director for Mick Fleetwood's nightclub, Fleetwood's. In both 2005 and 2009, he won the title of Male Blues Vocalist of the Year from the Washington Area Music Awards. He’s still working with multiple groups, recording and touring around the United States and overseas.
